Seam Welded Tubing
Welded Tube (W) & Cold Worked Tube (CW)
'As welded' tube receives no further treatment after forming and welding. It is used when limited manipulation is carried out. It has smooth matt finish.
STM also manufactures a wide range of square and sectional tube.
'Cold worked' tube is used in applications requiring a smooth internal surface, high corrosion resistance and compliance with specifications such as ASTM A249 and Australian Standard AS1528 for the food industry. The weld area is subject to a mechanical forging process for grain refinement and a smooth bore.
Polished Tube (CWBP), (WBP), (HiFin)
A bright polish finish with the polishing pattern running circumferentially with a range of finishing grits is available. A high mirror finish can also be achieved.
Annealed (WA), (CWA), (WDA)
Annealing after welding or drawing increases corrosion resistance and softens the tube for severe manipulation such as bending, expanding and forming. STM anneals in a reducing atmosphere which maintains the bright appearance of the stainless steel.
Drawn Tube (WD)
By cold drawing annealed, welded or cold worked tube fine dimensional tolerance are achieved. Drawn tube has excellent uniformity of wall thickness and concentricity, uniform grain structure and hardness.
